Tom Craine’s wife, Clare Collyer has kept a modest profile in the public eye. The couple is the parents of two adorable boys.
Tom Craine is a stand-up comedian, writer, and presenter who has been on Drunk History (Comedy Central), Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3), and The Last Leg: Correspondents.
His critically acclaimed BBC Radio 4 sitcom “ReincarNathan” will shortly return for its final series. It was nominated for Best Scripted Comedy, Best Scripted Storytelling, and Funniest Show at the BBC Audio Drama Awards.
Who Is Comedian Tom Craine’s Wife, Nat Luurtsema?
Tom Crane is married to his wife, Clare Collyer. However, he was in a three-year relationship with Nat Luurtsema who is a highly regarded stand-up comedian, novelist, radio presenter, and comedy writer.
She is one-third of the critically acclaimed sketch group Jigsaw, together with Dan Antopolski and Tom Craine.
Nat was born in the English town of Watford, Hertfordshire. Florence Foster Jenkins (2016), Three Women Wait for Death (2016), and Island Queen (2012) are among her films that have gained recognition.
In addition, the couple is famous for their relationship and the breakup story. Former couple Craine and Luurtsema are both stand-up comedians who produce performances on the breakup of their relationship while still performing together as members of the comedy ensemble Jigsaw.
Yes, it’s as awkward to listen as to write. That’s why it is said that you should never date a stand-up. Or, if you do, you should never part up with them.
In most cases, you’ll be slammed in front of your ex’s friends and relatives. Calling it quits with a comic will almost certainly result in an audience sniggering at your flaws.
And it gets worse because, although Craine is kind in his narration of events in his play Crying On A Waltzer, Luurtsema is not. Although it begins sweetly enough, love at first sight, cohabitation by the third date.
It’s not long before she’s providing information like his horrible undergarments and habit of peeing in Coke cans.
“I’d perform my breakup show, then go over to the Pleasance Courtyard and do my sketch show with him, and then he’d run across the courtyard and do his solo show about breaking up with me!” she added.
The whole thing seems uncomfortable at best. And Luurtsema claims that the two didn’t realize they had written complete plays about each other until they were at the festival.
Both appear to concur that the cause for the breakup was that the partnership could no longer support two 31-year-old fools. Craine may have flooded the bathroom after falling asleep in the shower and blocking the plughole.
But Luurtsema characterizes herself as the type of woman who loses shoes on nights out and feeds on the teat of packaged wine bags.
Luurtsema suggested in an interview with the Belfast Telegraph that she and Craine are still great friends and that all is fair in love and humor. “It’s not that bad,” she says.
“When we initially started dating, he had some stuff about an ex-girlfriend, and I suggested he pretend it’s all about me so the jokes flow more naturally. And we’ve always had that type of connection, we don’t mind being lied about if it helps the stand-up.”
